How long does counseling usually take?
The distress is usually accumulated over a period of time, and the cause is not simple and unique. Therefore, the number of times to talk depends on the complexity and the cooperation between you and your counselor. Generally, it is once a week, 50 minutes each time, and the number of counseling is generally 6-8 times (absence is counted), but it is also depending on you and the evaluation of your counselor.
Who will know I'm here for counseling?
Information shared with your counselor will NOT be disclosed to anyone outside the Section’s professional staff without your written permission. But sometimes confidentiality must be broken due to special situations, including you disclose the unsafety of your own or others' lives, or involving legal issues. In addition, there is no need to worry that your family, teachers, or classmates will know the content of your conversation.
Can counseling take a leave?
If you need to take a leave for some reason, please inform us of at least a day before the session via email or come in person. Regular attendance has an important impact on the effectiveness of the conversation. Therefore, unless due to unavoidable situations, please do not be absent. If you “no- shows" for two weeks without asking for leave of absence, the section will have the right to terminate the counseling.
