Responsibilities
As a senior manufacturing engineer, you will be responsible for driving towards world class factory operations with multiple factories. This role will cover sustaining operations, new product introductions and qualifications of materials, processes and new factories. You will drive for manufacturing excellence with the use of DOEs, identifying and/or developing new processes and working closely with both our suppliers and our design engineering teams.
Activities Include
- Leads Synaptics’ efforts to develop product manufacturing plan to effectively manufacture PC module products from NPI through mass production phases
- Ensures manufacturing is building product in conformance to current engineering documentation
- Reviews the design of components and parts for design-for-manufacturability and design-for-test
- Working with EMS suppliers - Monitors costs, manpower efficiency, machine capability, space utilization, etc. and recommend as appropriate revisions in manufacturing methods
- Leads continuous improvement efforts in the areas of Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and ProductivityIdentify, process map, analyze, and execute impact projects using LEAN or Six Sigma tools that result in significant process improvements.Leads the integration of new designs into manufacturing
- Participates and contributes productively as part of Synaptics’ design, manufacturing, and customer service/support efforts
- Directs cross team activities to address manufacturing challenges
- Supports Business Unit, Operations, Sales, and QATechnical lead inside the outsourced manufacturing environment. Trains and works with CMs, customer & supplier to resolve quality, root cause analysis, short term and long term solutions
- Drives for ongoing quality and yield improvement program at the contract manufacturing sites
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial/manufacturing engineering
- 8+ years’ experience in PCB SMT manufacturing, advanced automation assembly, and test
- Strong cross functional leadership able to influence across organizations
- Experience with quality standards, FMEA, Lean, Six Sigma processes
- Ability to multi-task effectively, self-motivated, positive attitude and a cooperative, team-based approach to solving problems
- Travel to supplier sites for new product introduction support and critical manufacturing situations
- Experience and knowledge in capacitive touch, fingerprint, glass and metal frames is an advantage
- Fluent in Mandarin and English
