Q3: What is the NSTC research program application schedule? |
A: The application period for large numbers of research programs for the NSTC is from approximately October to the end of December each year. Other academic programs are notified for application according to the NSTC. Program applications must go through the school compilation process, with unified prepared letter records sent to the NSTC. After the R&D department receives a notice of solicitation from the NSTC, email is used to notify all teachers and secretaries in the school of the school’s operating schedule. Teachers should complete the application process based on this schedule. |
Q4: NSTC program applications for immediate review on request of new teachers. |
A: When the qualifications for new hires or current employees comply with regulations and they have not applied for research programs at the NSTC, applications for immediate review on request can be presented within three years of the hiring date, or the date on which they obtained their doctoral degree. They are restricted to one article when applying. Those who are program hosts who have previously applied for NSTC research programs, have served as teachers overseas, or have taken part in research service for one year or more are recruited to return to Taiwan for services, and failed to apply for research programs at the NSTC after returning for service can present the application within one year of the hiring date. They are restricted to one publication when applying. |
Q5: What are NSTC research program applicant qualifications? |
A: The NSTC reviews the related regulations annually. Thus, please refer to the NSTC Subsidy Research Project Operating Essentials. |
Q6: What items should be noted in the “online application process” for an NSTC research project? |
A: As a rule, the NSTC currently uses Internet operating methods to implement comprehensive online application forms. (1) Applicants must have an ID and password issued by the NSTC to use these computer operations. For application methods relating to the ID and password, please see “Usage Notes for NSTC Research Project WWW Online Application Procedures.” (2) Applicants use the system to input information into forms. After confirmation that they are free of errors, these are then submitted. Prior to submission, remember that each change must be saved; applicants can revise the information on their own prior to submission. Applicants cannot make any changes after submission. (3) After completing the online procedures, the department secretary completes online delivery and sends the compiled data to the R&D department for compilation by the entire school. (4) Beginning in 2008, after implementation of an online application it is unnecessary to further submit written information. |
Q7: How are funding changes in NSTC research programs or program extension procedures handled? |
A: When handling funding changes of program extension procedures, after the program host enters the NSTC research talent web, click on changing program and select changing items; after completing it, save and send it. The application form audit unit is produced via system identification (internal audit or NSTC review). After printing the application form and having the host and the department head sign it, send it to the R&D department to continue to school sign-off process. After completing the school signing and review, the R&D department sends the electronic files to the NSTC. Internal reviewers at the school then complete the changing procedures, and NSTC reviewers await notification from the NSTC. |
