Yuan Ze University Promoted Pickleball Development and Successfully Hosted the Lions Club Yuan Ze Cup National Pickleball Championship

On February 22, Yuan Ze University grandly hosted the Lions Club Yuan Ze Cup National Pickleball Championship in its campus gymnasium. This event, co-organized by the Taoyuan City Sports Bureau, the Taipei Pickleball Association, and the Taoyuan City Public Pickleball Association, marked the first-ever national pickleball competition held in Taoyuan. The tournament attracted 28 teams and over 200 players from across the country, with participants competing fiercely in the Open Division and Masters Division, showcasing the energy and potential of pickleball.

On the day of the event, several distinguished guests, including Taoyuan City Sports Bureau Director Hsu Yen-Hui, Taoyuan City Councilor Huang Jia-Chi, and Guishan District Councilor Lee Tsung-Hao, attended the tournament to witness the excitement firsthand. Notably, Councilor Lee Tsung-Hao, an alumnus of Yuan Ze University, expressed his strong appreciation for his alma mater’s efforts in promoting sports for all.

Throughout the competition, players demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork, creating a tense and thrilling atmosphere on the courts. Participants gave their all in pursuit of championship glory. In the end, the “Pickle Rookies” team emerged as the champion of the Open Division, while the “Gamma” team dominated the Masters Division, highlighting the inclusiveness and competitive nature of pickleball.

Yuan Ze University also actively promoted pickleball within the community, organizing outreach events in Zhongzheng and Zhongshan neighborhoods in Taoyuan, which received enthusiastic responses from residents. Looking ahead, the university planned to further expand pickleball initiatives to junior high and elementary schools, as well as additional communities, allowing more people to experience the health benefits and joy of the sport.
