YZU develops a mobile APP for the detection of mild cognitive impairment

With the support of the "Qualcomm Taiwan R&D Cooperation Program" launched by Qualcomm, Professor Yawgeng Chau, Associate Professor Chien-Cheng Lee, and their team from the Department of Electrical and Communication Engineering of Yuan Ze University developed a simple mobile APP prototype for the detection of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) based on data augmentation and AI deep learning. They cooperated with psychiatrists from Far-Eastern Memorial Hospital and used the video data collected from 48 testees. Potential dementia patients may apply the APP as an auxiliary tool for daily self-examination before actual medical treatment.
