In general course of service and Learning, assistant professor of Yuan Ze University, Ming-Shan Kang, led about 20 students to Shihbajhong villages in Shiding participating in volunteer activities. The students not only feel the beauty of mountains and know the home of fireflies, but also experience the spirit of service learning
Ming-Shan Kang said that the activity can cultivate students’ civic responsibility; lead students to help the community with their knowledge, and expand the perspective of caring. Through arranging Baojia Street and home of fireflies, students felt the strong hospitality of villages, the beauty of mountains and Danlan Old Trail. Most important of all, they can expand the experiences by doing, thinking, discussing and observing that make their knowledge beyond the school barriers, and cultivate their altruistic characteristics at the same time.
